A Note on Baby Dedication: 

In Deuteronomy 6, it’s clear that God expects and desires parents to raise and influence their children to love the Lord in every part of their lives. To that end, we want to help every family by making disciples of their family members. One way we do this is by providing opportunities to do family dedications. A Baby Dedication is a ceremony where the parents make a public declaration to raise their children to live lives of faith in Jesus and for their family to serve the Lord. During the Baby Dedication ceremony, church members will be asked to support the family in that endeavor. It’s not a ceremony that saves your children, but a parental decision to influence, train and equip your children to one day choose to follow Jesus for themselves, as well as making the statement that “as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”

 

The Baby Dedication Orientation is a prerequisite for participating in the ceremony and gives you practical tools to guide you along in your family’s spiritual journey.

 

Since Baby Dedication is an agreement between the family and the church family, Olney Baptist Church requires that one or both of the parents are church members.
